The Buddy Holly Center

Located in Lubbock, Texas, the Buddy Holly Center is a performance arts center, dedicated to the life and times for Buddy Holly, and to the music of West Texas. The Center contains items related to Buddy Holly's childhood days and to his later professional career. The home of Crickets' drummer Jerry Allison is also part of the Center.

About the Center

The Buddy Holly Center serves two main purposes: preserving and promoting Buddy Holly's legacy and the music of West Texas; and, educating and entertaining the public through exhibits related to contemporary visual arts and music.

The Center was originally set up when the city of Lubbock acquired a large collection of Holly's artifacts from his estate. Some of the property underwent an extensive renovation in 2010. In 2013, Jerry Allison's house was opened to the public.

The collection of Holly's artifacts includes his iconic horn-rimmed glasses and his Fender Stratocaster. In addition, photographs, handwritten letters, and Holly's own collection of 45s are on display.

Visting the Center

The Buddy Holly Center is open during normal business hours Tuesday through Saturday (10:00 AM to 5 :00 PM) and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The site is closed on Mondays. Please, call ahead before visiting on a holiday since the Center is closed for many of them.

Admission is $10. Children under six and active duty military members can visit for free.

If you like 50's Rock & Roll, this is a must see. We enjoyed the video and the nice memorabilia museum. So many things we learned about Buddy that we really didn't know. Lubbock was also much larger than we anticipated! Great food as well.
A blast from the past! Mama Dee Q, Trip Advisor
A must see. I wish they blasted the music throughout the place. It was awesome. The staff was helpful in other activities around. Thanks
